The Secret to an Influential Life

Even if you don’t want to influence others you do. Having a three-year-old son reminds me everyday how I influence another person without even thinking about it.

A little leaven leavens the lump of dough. The question is in what way do we influence others? For good or for bad?

I adhere to a simple worldview. Almost Star Wars like—two forces exist in the universe. One is inherently and infinitely good; the other bad or evil.

Where my worldview differs from Star Wars is that the forces actually are Persons. I don’t believe that God is a myth, or a fictional character made up for human convenience. Nor is He a concept or non-involved, impersonal deity.

I believe He is more a person than I am. He is complete. He is without need of anything. He is set-apart, all-knowing, ever-present, and sovereignly powerful.

And He is absolute Goodness.

I also believe that there is a person who is just as absolute in His evilness. He is of super-human power and intelligence. Yet he has his limits for he is a created being

What does that have to do with influence you might ask.

I will tell you!

You carry the spirit of one or the other person.

That is the secret to an influential life—Understanding that you carry more than you think you do.

This is especially true if you are a Christian. If you are not a Christian, then you might want to consider this.

The question is what kind of influence do you want to have? I think you want to influence others for good. Am I right? I guess that there might be one or two of you that would boldly say otherwise, but I doubt it.

If you are a follower of Christ, people need what and who is in you. Therefore walk freely in that influence. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in your relationships.

What does a Holy Spirit led life look like?

It is a life that bears the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Against these things there is no law. So you have no reason to hold back. If this is what you carry, then let it influence those you encounter.

Question – How has someone influenced you in a good way? What was it about them that affected your life?
